Marie Antoinette

I have been very quiet with my blogging. This year has been one of the busiest years of my life and I'm happy to say that I finished my Diploma of Specialist Makeup and Hair last month and I'm now fully qualified! More posts on my blog should be expected now and I will also catch up with the events and photo shoots I have been doing over the past few months.

Below is some professional photo's I had taken of my Marie Antoinette character from Victoria Universities Night of Notables. I've been interested in Marie Antoinette since high school after studying her and I fell in love with the movie Marie Antoinette (2006). The costume and styling was so beautiful, I wanted to try and create my own modern take on her. I handmade the wig and I actually made the fake cake out of gap sealant from Bunnings. The costume I bought from a shop on Etsy.com.

I was so happy to come away with 3 out of 4 awards from the night for Best Wig, Industry award and Student of the year. I'm really looking forward to 2014, this has been one of the best years I have had and I can't wait to start organising some more creative makeup shoots!

50's Siren

My week has been incredibly busy once again, I love it so much though so no complaining here! I'm finishing up my hair-styling unit  at school and we are moving onto wigs and hair pieces. I'm also doing a unit on specialised makeup and we are looking specifically into period  makeup and hair. This coming week I'm doing a 40's and 50's look, I can't wait!

This weekend I had a photo shoot that I did makeup and hair for. It was such an incredible day and I was working with a fantastic team. The theme of  the shoot was 50's swimwear, so basically I was in heaven. The gorgeous Stevie, who styled the shoot gave me the freedom  to do whatever I wanted to do with the models hair which was so much  fun.

We had a beautiful sunny day on the beach to work with and the shots came out amazing! I have some sneak peek pictures below. I can't wait to get the prints and show them off.

Enjoy! xo

Snood lovin'

So I've been getting quite a few requests to make some snoods for some lovely ladies. Last year my Mum took some time out to teach me how to crochet and I picked it up quite quickly. I made some of my own little crocheted characters to sell as hair clips but, they were very time consuming. I will post some pictures of them at some point.

Any who, I stumbled across this vintage pattern for a 'perky snood' and I adapted it to suit a ribbon instead of elastic and also so it would fit my short hair. So here are some photo's of  the ones I  made. The red one is going to my teacher at school so she can use it on her clients!

These will be available some time soon in my Etsy store. The next one I'm starting will be a soft pink and I can't wait to wear it! x

It begins..

Hello,

As you may have seen, my name is Liana. This is my first blog! I have instagram and tumblr both under the same name demoiselle blanche, feel free to follow me. http://demoiselleblanche.tumblr.com/
@demoiselleblanche

I've wanted to start this blog for so long to share all my vintage hair and makeup secrets. My favourite spots in Melbourne to go op shopping/thrifting. Some of my craft work and crocheting. My favourite outfits and I'm sure there is heaps more!

I love so much about 40's 50's 60's fashion and styling, so I will be posting a lot about that. I've found a new love for old movies thanks to all the lovely vintage gals on my instagram suggesting movies for me to watch. I also like spending time checking out different markets around the city and finding cute little shops and cafes. So these are some of the things you shall be seeing coming up!

Some more about myself, I'm 23 and I've moved from the country. It's very beautiful there but I'm definitely a city girl at heart. I live right next to the beach and right near the city, so I have the best of both worlds. I'm currently into my second term of a Diploma of Specialist Makeup and Hairstyling. It's the best thing I've ever done and I'm enjoying it so much.

Enough about me for the moment. I can't wait to start taking photo's and sharing some of myself on here. Any suggestions of other things you would like to see would be greatly appreciated!

I hope you enjoy and I'll see you soon xx
