Voodoo Vixen Clothing

A couple weeks ago I received some gorgeous pieces from Voodoo Vixen! I have been sick lately and I've finally gotten around to taking some pictures and showing off what I chose. It took me ages to decide what to pick because they have so many amazing designs, but I decided on the Maggie Lou dress, Tammy cardigan and the Marli skirt.

I love emerald green so I had to have this cardigan. I've been wearing it every day since it arrived. It's so perfect for this Melbourne weather and easy way to look dressed up with a pair of high waisted jeans.

It also looks amazing with the Marli skirt. I've been wearing this combo to work because the skirt has a bit of stretch and is so comfortable to wear while doing clients makeup and hair.

I also love the back of this skirt and the little pleats, the pleats at the front give a really lovely hourglass shape.

And lastly is the Maggie Lou dress. I've been wearing a lot of red and black this winter so this dress caught my eye and I love the western design on the front of the dress. The dress also does up with some gorgeous rose buttons. (I love roses!)

If anything has caught your eye be sure to head over to Voodoo Vixen they have an online shop which you can find here - http://www.voodoovixen.co.uk/

Love Vintage Fair

A few weeks ago I went to the Love Vintage Fair with the girls I work with since we all love the vintage lifestyle. Unfortunately again this year I wasn't able to buy anything. It's so overwhelming going in there because there are so many stalls and there is so much to look through. Next year I'm going in with a game plan and a list of what I really want and need. So I don't get sidetracked by all the pretty things.
The performers and the fashions were amazing, my favourite would have to be seeing The Pacific Belles perform.

Here is a shot of me taken at the show eating some delicious strawberry and cream fairy floss.

Old Hollywood Portrait

I'm still waiting to get the rest of the photo's from this set, but I thought I would share this one. I've been helping out some of the students from PSC for their 40s-50s old Hollywood portraits. It has been really fun and they are so talented! These were taken with the old Hollywood style lighting as well, so it got very hot in there! I also got to wear this gorgeous vintage white dress that was given to me by the most lovely lady. I was happy to have some photos taken in it.

As soon as I get the rest I will upload them!

Bedroom Decor

I thought I would give a bit of a tour around my room because I finally have the vanity chair I've always wanted! My lovely boss seems to have the same taste as me, she had a spare vanity chair that she gave me and I'm in love with it.

As you will be able to tell I am a huge fan of soft pinks, so everything I bring home to decorate seems to be in pale pinks and I also have a soft spot for pastel blue. How my room is decorated now is exactly what I wanted when I was a young girl. I always wanted to be a ballerina and so I had dreamed of having a room decorated in pink and white with a ballerina border, back when they were all the rage.

It looks like I might be either moving rooms or moving to a new place in a month so I wanted to take these pictures to have an idea of how I set everything out because I have the memory of a goldfish!

All I need now to finish my room is a new bed frame and I will have all the pieces I've always wanted. I don't have the $$$ to spend big on one so I'm eyeing off the cream metal bed frame from Ikea.

Everything in my room has a story behind it and I have some amazing people in my life who have gifted me some of my treasures!

I found my dressing table on gumtree for an amazing price. I've always wanted a dressing table with skirting, it's so feminine.

My gorgeous 60's wardrobe and I have somehow managed to fit all my dresses, coats and skirts inside it.

The label from the bottom of my vanity chair

My good friend found this little vanity mirror and brush set at an opshop for me. They have some gorgeous sets on etsy as well.

I have this weird row of little shelves across my wall so I filled each one with a theme and it feels like they are all little shop displays. At the back are some of my favourite perfumes!

Liana Laine YouTube

Last week I tried putting together a little video for my first YouTube channel. You can find the link to the video below and hear my little voice! I've decided to change my name from Demoiselle Blanche over to Liana Laine. Liana is actually my first name and I liked the sound of Laine after it. It took a while reading through baby names books to find it, but I'm finally happy with it. I hope you like it too! I will make the change on the blog once I have a banner and all that finished.

I'm still learning how to edit videos and also learning how to use YouTube. The whole video has been filmed off my iPhone. It didn't work that well though because my phone is filled with music and photos so I had to keep stopping the video and then transfer it over to my computer. It was a very long process indeed!
Fortunately my lovely housemate has given me his camera which will hopefully cut down the time a bit.

Anywho I hope you like the video, please let me know what you think and what you would like to see me film!

Fabulous Forties

Sorry about the delay of blogging, I recently got my licence and it is still quite the novelty and I've been zooming around everywhere!

One thing I've been able to do since getting my licence is a bit of modeling. I am by no means a model, or am trying to get into the modeling industry. It's just a bit of fun to do on my days off! I was given the opportunity to do a photo shoot with a photographer Lee Nguyen for some forties styled photography. I did my own hair and makeup for the shoot and brought along my whole wardrobe as well as this fabulous fox stole I was gifted for my Birthday. I'm in love with the photos, the lighting and mood pretty is spot on!

We are now starting plans for some more shoots. We are looking at doing them in the style of Gil Elvgren's pinup illustrations. I cannot wait to get them started!

I'm also waiting on a few more pictures from a 50;s shoot which I will post on the blog as soon as I get them.

Vintage Walking Tour

This is something I've been meaning to blog about since the start of this month! I've been looking at fun little trips to take my sister along to, to show her why I adore Melbourne so much. My family is from the country and I've been living here for a few years now.
My sister heard word of this Vintage walking tour in Melbourne so I booked tickets immediately. Even being from Melbourne there are lots of spots for finding amazing vintage pieces I don't know about!

The tour was a great experience, there are three different tours you can try and we went for the Vintage Lovers Tour which went for 4 hours for $59 each. The other two you can try are the Express Tour, 2 hours for $35 or the Bicycle Tour, it goes for 4 hours for $149. The tours include cake and a drink at one of the cafe's you stop at.

I can't remember all the shop names we stopped in but I will be revisiting them soon once I have some money to spend and I'll be sure to blog about them!

We had an amazing tour guide who greeted us with our Vintage Tour goodie bag at Degraves Lane and then we set off for our first shops!

Relaxing in between shops at a little cafe in Collingwood. My little kitty teapot was adorable!

My amazing green tea cake. I really wanted to take all the crockery home with me!

We went and visited Retro Star which I already go into too much. I found this amazing pastel blue coat, it had pearl beading all along the edges. It was very hard not to take this home with me.

Everything in this window is actually from an online shop and they display it and then you can head over to their website to purchase their items. There is a lot more you can purchase on their site also. I just adore the lips necklace and I'm hoping to make it part of my wardrobe.

I have been searching for these cushions every where! I will hopefully be going back for them fingers crossed.

Some amazing graffiti we found while shopping.

I highly suggest that when you go on this tour save up beforehand because there is no doubt you will find some fabulous things that you will need to purchase!

Pin Up Party workshop

In January I worked on my first Pin up party with Candice DeVille and Helen McLean. We had 13 ladies at the workshop. We started off with teaching the ladies about vintage makeup and hair techniques while practicing on themselves. While practicing, Candice and I give a hand to make sure all makeup and hair is perfect for the photo shoots once they were all done.

It was our first time doing a workshop like this and it was so much fun! Definitely the best way to celebrate a birthday and you get to take away some amazing photos!

To see the final results head over to Helen McLean's Facebook page - www.facebook.com/helenmcleanphotography

Vintage Car Photo-Shoot

I've been very busy again with photo shoots and working on weddings and trials! So yet again I've been slow with my blogging but I'm going to spend the whole day writing up plans for the blog (Yay!)

This past week has been a bit scary, there are so many fires in Victoria at the moment and a lot of my family and friends had to be evacuated as their areas were under threat. It seems to be ok at the moment because of the wonderful work of the CFA, so we can all rest a bit more easy.

I've been trying to keep my mind off the fires by keeping busy with my work. I had an amazing photo shoot with some of my favourite people to work with. Miriam Butcher on photography, Stevie-Rae Prow on styling, myself on makeup and hair and the lovely Marlo modelling. We brought this shoot together on a 43 degree day out in the sun, so we are very proud.

Here is a sneak peek of Marlo looking absolutely breath taking!

We did four looks on the day. Here is another sneak peek of Marlo working on one of the beautiful cars, they were so dreamy!

Unfortunately I didn't get any full length photos of the amazing cars we were able to work with, but there will be shots of them once the final images are released!

This is the second time we've all shot together. Our first shoot was a pin up photo shoot on the beach. The photos turned out so amazing we started planning for another shoot pretty much straight after!

Here are some final images from our fist shoot -

And a photo of the lovely Marlo holding a picture of our first shoot on our second photo shoot!
The final images should be released soon and as soon at they are I will be uploading them to my blog and to my Facebook page /demoiselleblanche. Tomorrow I'm meeting up with some artists for an exciting collaboration which I can't wait to write about and get started on, so keep an eye out for that! xx

The RAW experience

In November last year I was very lucky to be selected to participate in the RAW Melbourne showcase. It was definitely one of the best experiences of my life. I showcased makeup designs along with designer Allanah Barry and hairstylist Chelsea De Main.

It was a night of firsts! My first runway show, getting to walk on the runway, my first interview and my first time doing male makeup.

I thought I was nervous when speaking in public but this was completely different. I was beyond nervous for my interview and I've never done anything like it in my whole life. Watching it back now I don't think I spoke too bad!
A close up of the look for the night! I used Kryolan aqua colour in 091 to create the bold blue colour on the eyes. It's the most gorgeous blue.
After the showcase I had no idea that everyone went on to compete for the state title and then the national title of the category they were in. I then received an email saying I won Melbourne Makeup artist of the Year. I was so happy with just that especially after only finishing my Diploma in November.

I actually thought I had no chance in the state competition but still, in December I was eagerly awaiting the video that was released to show who the judges picked for the national categories. I still can't believe it but I won! I was then asked to go to Brisbane to receive my award as well as putting together another showcase.
It was such a fantastic night filled with amazing talent. If you are working in the arts industry RAW is something you should look at applying for to help get your name out there. It is also a great opportunity to meet people you could work with, be inspired by or just for making fantastic new friends.

RAW is such an amazing organisation and I feel so blessed to have been involved in it. Everyone at RAW are so friendly and helpful and are there to make sure you have the best experience possible.
On the awards night I collaborated with designer Amber Alexis The Label and hairstylist Valentin Stefanov and the dress I wore is by Melbourne designer Lady Petrova.

And now I have the prettiest award sitting on my desk to remind me of the fabulous night! For more information on RAW or wanting to see if it's being hosted in your area go to www.rawartists.org or if you want to have a look at my work www.rawartists.org/demoiselleblanche
